Hotel near Gare de Lyon and Gare d'Austerlitz: where to stay

Early morning train or late evening arrival? Here are our recommendations for staying near Gare d'Austerlitz and Gare de Lyon, without having to stay right in front of the station.
For Gare d'Austerlitz, the Korner Saint-Marcel is about a ten-minute walk away, or one stop via line 5. For Gare de Lyon, the Korner Châtelet is just one stop away via line 14 or the RER A, which is often faster than staying right next to the station. In both cases, you stay in a pleasant neighborhood rather than in front of the station, where hotels rely on transient traffic and charge accordingly.
Two neighboring stations, two purposes
The Gare de Lyon is the station for TGV trains to Lyon, the Alps, Provence, the French Riviera, and Switzerland. It is served by metro lines 1 and 14 and by RER lines A and D.
The Gare d'Austerlitz handles Intercités trains to central and southwestern France, as well as major night trains. It is served by metro lines 5 and 10 and by RER line C.
The two stations face each other on opposite sides of the Seine: it takes about ten minutes on foot to get from one to the other.

For Gare de Lyon: two options
Staying as close as possible on foot
From the Korner Saint-Marcel, Gare de Lyon is about a twenty-minute walk across the Seine. By metro, take line 5 to Bastille, then line 1 for one stop.
Staying in the center, one stop away
Our hotel near the Marais, on Avenue Victoria, is just a few steps from the Châtelet station. Line 14 and the RER A reach Gare de Lyon in just one stop, in a matter of minutes. You stay in the heart of Paris, between Notre-Dame, the Marais, and the Louvre, and can reach your TGV stress-free.
Line 14 also directly connects Châtelet and Gare de Lyon to Orly Airport: a convenient combination for a trip that involves both flying and taking the train. Our guide on getting to your hotel from CDG or Orly details all the routes.
For an early morning train
The metro starts running again around 5:30 AM. For a very early departure, choose a hotel from which you can walk to the station, or arrange for a taxi. The night before, check your platform number on the SNCF app and keep your tickets accessible offline.
